We all strive to be more eco-friendly in our everyday life, from using mooncups to going plastic-free with our beauty regimes, but the latest innovation might be a step too far.
A new company has designed eco-friendly knickers that claim to be “durable comfortable and odour-killing”.
They also claim not to need to be washed for weeks at a time. Eek.
While it might sound so gross, the company assures the customers that they won’t smell at all.
Organic Basics have released their news SilverTech 2.0 range, which are self-washing pieces that kill 99.9 percent of bacteria.
As a result of new technology, we won’t have to wash our underwear after every wear, which uses less water so saves energy.
According to their Kickstarter campaign, which has already raised over £120,000, the underwear is made of entirely recycled materials and allows you to “move freely without restrictions”.
SilverTech 2.0 “uses the antimicrobial properties of silver.”
Explaining further on the website, she said: “We use Polygiene, a safe, blue sign approved recycled silver treatment and apply it directly on the fabric for optimal odour control.
“We’ve used nylon, a moisture wicking fabric that’s also more durable and it feels lighter on the skin.”
While the idea of walking about in the same pair of pants might make you feel uncomfortable, the company assures potential customers that they are “built with advanced ventilation in critical sweat zones”.
They explain that the length of time you can go without washing the underwear does vary.
They explain: “The effect of silver can vary from person to person, depending on how much and how strong our body odours are. Technically you can wear our SilverTech 2.0 products for over one week without washing.
“However body hygiene is a very personal matter. So where one person can wear SilverTech for a month without having the need to wash, others might feel that need after just a few days. Less washing will save the environment a lot of water and CO2 – nice!”
If you fancy trying they have a four pack on offer for just £65 instead of £89.
