Laird Performance Materials’ hybrid thermal and EMI absorber material is designed to protect 5G handheld devices and network infrastructure applications. Dubbed CoolZorb 5G, the material addresses millimeter wave (mmWave) and microwave frequencies that 5G will implement. Multifunctional, it serves as a heat-mitigating gap filler and EMI-reducing absorber.

The material is used like any traditional thermal interface material, placed between a heat source such as an IC and a heat sink or other heat transfer device or metal chassis. It suppresses unwanted energy coupling, resonances, or surface currents causing board level EMI issues.
